Those who still want to be found need to be visible \u2013 before they start looking.<\/p>\n<p>Sourcing describes a proactive approach to talent acquisition. Companies actively search for suitable professionals and managers \u2013 long before they begin looking for a new role themselves. Specialised <a href=\"https:\/\/2026.karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-recruiter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recruiters<\/a>, known as sourcers, identify talent and reach out directly \u2013 either for a specific vacancy or to build networks for future opportunities. Sourcing differs clearly from traditional job postings: instead of waiting for <a href=\"https:\/\/2026.karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-application\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">applications<\/a>, organisations actively go to the market. In some ways, it resembles <a href=\"https:\/\/2026.karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-headhunter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">headhunting<\/a> \u2013 except that it is often organised in-house.<\/p>\n<p>Sourcing emerged as a response to skills shortages. <a href=\"https:\/\/2026.karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-social-networks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Social networks<\/a> \u2013 above all <a href=\"https:\/\/2026.karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-linkedin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">LinkedIn<\/a> \u2013 are now the key tools for sourcers. Those who are not visible there miss opportunities. Industry conferences and professional events are also popular channels for approaching top talent.<\/p>\n<p>For job seekers, this means: a well-maintained LinkedIn profile is not a nice-to-have.
