But most people draw the wrong conclusion from it.<\/p>\n<p>Those who present themselves like a product fall back on outdated sales tricks. Employers want to ensure that their investment pays off \u2013 with facts, not with phrases. Decisions are made rationally, based on sound arguments. For highly qualified applicants, the situation even resembles a joint venture: both sides assess whether the collaboration aligns with their strategic direction \u2013 an exchange on equal footing, provided applicants see themselves as <a href=\"https:\/\/2026.karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-self-entrepreneur\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">entrepreneurs in their own right<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Applying is also a process \u2013 not a one-off act. <a href=\"https:\/\/2026.karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-recruitment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Recruitment<\/a> processes are structured and step-by-step. The same should apply to your application. Each stage serves a distinct purpose: the <a href=\"https:\/\/2026.karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-cv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CV<\/a> is meant to lead to an <a href=\"https:\/\/2026.karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-job-interview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a> \u2013 no more, but also no less. <a href=\"https:\/\/2026.karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-soft-skills\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Soft skills<\/a> and personal <a href=\"https:\/\/2026.karrierecoaching.ch\/en\/glossary-strengths\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">strengths<\/a> belong in the interview, not in the CV.
